About Our Products

What do you sell?
We sell cylinder heads (bare, semi-assembled and fully assembled), crankshafts, connecting rods, short and long blocks, gasket sets, head bolts, tappet and timing covers, manifolds, sumps, oil cooler parts, injectors, and turbo parts (complete turbos, CHRA cores, actuators and service kits). If you can't see what you need, use our Request a Quote form and we'll confirm availability.
Are your products new, used or reconditioned?
Most of what we sell is brand new. We also carry some demo or used stock on request (including some engines, blocks and heads), always clearly described as such. Refurbished (reconditioned) items carry the same warranty as our new items. See our Warranty page for full details.
Where do you source your products from?
We source from established manufacturers and suppliers, both local and international.

Ordering & Finding the Right Part

How do I know I'm ordering the correct part for my car?
Depending on the item, some require matching by engine code, some require checking which design type you have, and some need the OEM number.

OEM number: turbo components, fuel injectors, sensors.

Engine code: bolts, con rods, crankshafts, cylinder heads, engine blocks, gaskets, oil cooler parts, pistons, sleeves, throttle body, timing and tappet cover, vacuum pumps, valve train assembly, VVT gears.
Where do I find the OEM number and engine code?
For items that use an OEM number — turbo components, fuel injectors, sensors — it's on the part itself.

The engine code is commonly found within the engine number, usually the first 3 to 5 characters (some engines don't have the engine code in the engine number).
I can't find my part on the website — what do I do?
Fill in our Request a Quote form with the OEM or engine number, or call or WhatsApp us with the same details, and we'll confirm availability.
Can I order by phone or WhatsApp instead of online?
Yes — you can place orders over the phone. You can contact us on WhatsApp for information and verification, but you can't buy or check out via WhatsApp itself. See Branches for numbers, or WhatsApp us here.

Payments

What payment methods do you accept?
In store — Cash, credit and debit card, EFT (preferred); Buy-Now-Pay-Later via PayFlex and PayJustNow.

Online — Credit and debit card, EFT or ATM deposit; Buy-Now-Pay-Later via PayFlex, PayJustNow & Stitch.

Phone — EFT or ATM deposit; Buy-Now-Pay-Later via PayFlex link.
Can I pay in instalments?
Yes — in store via Buy-Now-Pay-Later via PayFlex and PayJustNow; online via Buy-Now-Pay-Later via PayFlex, PayJustNow & Stitch.
Which payment method allows for faster dispatch?
Payment where we receive confirmation of full payment immediately — such as credit and debit card payments or Buy-Now-Pay-Later payments — as these are confirmed immediately and don't require processing. ATM and EFT payments may require processing and are susceptible to delays, especially over weekends and when the payment is between different banks, so these are considered slower payments.
Do you offer credit accounts?
No, we do not offer a credit facility. All items must be paid for in full before dispatch.

Shipping & Delivery

When do you dispatch my order?
Local orders are dispatched the same working day once payment has cleared and the item is confirmed in stock, provided you order before our 11:00 SAST weekday cut-off (international orders dispatch the next working day). See our Shipping page for full details.
How long will delivery take?
It depends on your location and whether you're ordering locally or internationally — full delivery timeframes are on our Shipping Policy page.
How do I track my order?
Once your order is dispatched you'll receive a dispatch notification with the courier's tracking details by email.

Fitment & Installation

Can I install a part myself?
For warranty purposes, fitment and assembly must be carried out by a qualified mechanic with verifiable certification and/or an RMI member/approved workshop — turbo CHRA/cartridge work specifically requires a qualified turbo technician. Fitment by anyone else may void your warranty. See Warranty for full requirements.
Do I need to replace anything else when I fit a new part?
Often, yes. The root cause of the original failure must be identified and fixed before fitting the replacement. See our Warranty page for full details.

Warranty

What does the warranty actually cover?
Our standard cover is 6 months or 10,000km from the warranty start date, whichever comes first, against manufacturing defects only — complete engines are covered on the same basis. A shorter cover of 30 days or 10,000km (still full defect cover, not just start-up) applies to passenger-service vehicles (taxis, scholar transport, Uber/e-hailing), ambulances and security/response vehicles, driving schools, and rental/hire fleets. Courier/delivery, haulage, mining and agricultural use are treated as normal commercial use under our standard 6-month cover. Some categories — V8 performance, racing/motorsport, remapped or altered vehicles — carry no warranty at all. Turbo parts (CHRA/cartridges) carry their own turbo-specific warranty terms. A part that matches the correct fitment or spec, or is the only or industry-standard version available, is deemed correctly supplied and is covered for defects in the part itself, even if it differs in detail (e.g. a keyway present or absent) from your original part. Full terms, including what's required to keep your cover valid, are on our Warranty page.
What will void my warranty?
The most common causes are: fitment or assembly by someone who isn't a qualified mechanic/RMI-approved workshop (or, for turbo CHRA/cartridge work, a qualified turbo technician); not fixing the root cause of the original failure before installing the new part; incorrect fluids, timing or torque; no service history; and tampering with the part or its serial numbers/seals. See Warranty for the complete list.
How do I make a warranty claim?
You'll need your proof of purchase, service history (including an oil and filter change within 1,000km of fitment for engine components), proof of who installed it, and any supporting-parts invoices. Contact us via Contact Us to start a claim — we may also request an independent engineer's report in some cases. If a call-out is needed and the issue turns out not to be a covered defect, the call-out charge (currently R2.50/km plus R350/hour) is payable by the customer.

Wholesale & Trade Customers

Do you offer wholesale or trade pricing?
Yes, on two tiers. Independent engineers, mechanics, resellers and part finders who aren't affiliated with the RMI or a franchise/group buy in-store at either branch at our standard trade pricing (Tier 1). Customers affiliated with the RMI, a franchise or a buying group, and used engine dealers, buy through our dedicated wholesale portal, wholesalecarspares.co.za, with tiered pricing (Tier 2). See our Wholesale page to apply.
Do you offer credit accounts to wholesale or trade customers?
No — as above, we don't offer credit accounts to any customer. Wholesale and trade purchases are still on a cash, card or EFT basis.
